The two ships of the Jacob van Heemskerck class of the Royal Netherlands Navy were built as specialized air defence frigates. A development of the Standard-type. Paid off after about twenty years service and transfered to the Chilean Navy. Since 2005 / 2006 commissioned units of the Almirante Latorre class in the Chilean Navy.
