JETS 46 - LES PROJETS DE JET DE COMBAT DE LA LUFTWAFFE

Autore: Jean-Claude Mermet

Codice: 507053

€ 34,00

In 1944, the priority mission of the Jagdwaffe (German fighter) was to sweep from the sky the powerful Allied Viermot (four-engined planes) that appeared daily - by day for those of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), by night for those of the Royal Air Force (RAF) - over the Third Reich to crush the bombers. Reich to bomb weapons factories, railway networks, oil refineries, power stations and other sites essential to the war effort of a dying Third Reich. Reich's war effort. By inflicting heavy losses on the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator and Avro 683 Lancaster formations, Reichsmarschall Göring and Generalleutnant Adolf Galland, General der Jagdflieger (Chief of the Fighter), hoped to impose a lasting suspension of enemy air operations, allowing industry to reorganise and the Luftwaffe to replenish its flying personnel. To achieve this, the Luftwaffe placed great hopes in the jet fighters it had begun to put into service in the second half of 1944 (Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe and Me 163 Komet, later joined by the Heinkel He 162 Spatz), but even more so in the new and ultra-modern models of fighter jets, much more efficient, expected for 1945-46, or even later! Prototypes and projects that this book proposes to describe in detail.
