Manufactured by Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg (MAN for short), one of the world's leading truck manufacturers, the Support Vehicles (SV) fleet replaced a range of older truck designs that had been in service with the British Army since the Cold War. The SV truck range began entering service in 2007 and it consists of different cargo vehicles with a payload of 6, 9 and 15 tonnes, as well as unit support tankers and recovery vehicles. The fleet of well over 7,000 Support Vehicle trucks includes those in Medium Mobility (MM) configuration based on the MAN HX, and Improved Medium Mobility (IMM) configuration based on the MAN SX range. Today, SV vehicles are in service with nearly every unit of the British Army and Royal Marines, as well as with establishments of the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. They have already proved themselves on operations, for example with British forces deployed on Operation Telic in Iraq and Operation Herrick in Afghanistan. This is the first-ever comprehensive publication on the MAN trucks in British military service.
